Ayurvedic Medicine

Considered by many to be the oldest of the holistic healing sciences, Ayurveda first developed in India more than 3,000 years ago.  More than a system of healing illnesses, Ayurveda is considered the  'Science of Life'.  The word 'Ayurveda' actually means 'ayur'-life and 'veda'-science or knowledge.

The two main guiding principles of Ayurveda are that the mind and body are inextricably connected and nothing has more power to heal and transform the body than the mind itself. Freedom from illness, therefore depends upon expanding one's own awareness, bringing it into balance, and then extending that balance to the body.

Ayurveda is built upon three distinct foundational pillars that form the basis of every treatment, lifestyle modification, and herbal curation.  According to Ayurvedic medicine, health and wellness depend on the delicate balance between body, mind and spirit. To this end, Ayurvedic physicians and practitioners integrate various behaviors which bring into balance the building blocks of all matter in order to create health and total well-being which is universally interconnected.
